Over the past couple of months, I’ve been working with a client on her career journey. She's a strong, determined individual, and we’ve been making great progress. But there’s been one thing that’s been weighing on me.
During our time working together, she’s had to take weeks off work and cancel meetings with me.

From the start, I’ve always said that her health comes first and that she should focus on recovery. It's something I truly believe, and I want the best for her both in her career and her personal health.
I took a break over Christmas, and when I came back, I was hit with some tough news.
My client had been admitted to hospital and was about to start chemotherapy.
I didn’t know how to feel. On one hand, I was relieved she was getting the treatment she needed after not knowing why she was feeling so unwell for so long. On the other, my heart felt heavy for her, knowing how overwhelming this must be.
I can only imagine how incredibly difficult it is to juggle the demands of a career and your health, especially when facing something as challenging as cancer.
When you’re in the middle of treatment, everything changes. The mental, emotional, and physical toll can be so draining.
That’s when I suggested she check out a free resource that I knew could help her through this journey: The Stress Management & Emotional Wellbeing Module from The Cancer Coach
I first came across the organisation at the HCANZA Conference held a couple of years ago, and I decided to check out the resource for myself out of curiosity. The module is designed to support people at any stage of their cancer journey, whether they're dealing with a recent diagnosis, undergoing treatment, or trying to adjust after treatment ends.
Although I don’t have personal experience with cancer myself, I’ve seen firsthand the whirlwind of emotions it brings through my family members who have gone through it.
You might feel lost, anxious, or completely overwhelmed by everything that's happening around you. The module is a gentle guide to help manage these feelings, offering practical strategies to regain a sense of calm and control when everything feels chaotic.
I know that stress doesn’t just come from the cancer itself. The side effects of treatments can be just as tough on your emotional and physical wellbeing. So, in this module, there's support for both the emotional side of things and guidance on handling the physical toll treatment can take on you.
For anyone going through cancer, it's essential to remember … you're not alone.
It’s okay to seek support.
It’s okay to take things one step at a time.
And it’s okay to give yourself permission to focus on your health while the rest of the world moves forward.
If you're facing a similar journey, I encourage you to check out the free Stress Management & Emotional Wellbeing Module by The Cancer Coach.
It might be just the support you need right now. Click here to access it for free.
My only hope is that companies start providing cancer prevention training to their staff. You never know who might be privately dealing with a diagnosis, trying to manage work and health on their own.
By fostering awareness and lifting the stigma of working with cancer, we can create workplaces that truly support the wellbeing of every employee.
